A roundtable meeting was held during American
President, Bill Clinton, visiting China's Guilin on 2 July,
1998. 7 specialists came from China's NGO participated in
the roundtable meeting. At which they mainly discussed the issues
of environmental and ecological protection, woman's and children's
rights and interests as well as social economy development.
Executive Director- Mr. Zhou Dadi, Beijing Energy Efficiency
Center, introduced the contributions made by China to the areas
of energy efficiency and climate changes. During the meeting,
both sides exchange their views on how to provide the effective
supports in the terms of energy efficiency and climate changes.
Zhou Dadi, Executive Director of BECon, has been selected by
the Climate Technology Institute (CTI) board of management as
a recipient of the 2000 Climate Technology Leadership Award.
This award recognizes Mr. Zhou outstanding contributions to
the accelerated diffusion of climate friendly technology. The
awards panel was also
impressed with Mr. Zhou accomplishments in promoting energy
efficiency through China's BECon center and in transforming
the delivery of energy services in China. Mr. Zhou Dadi received
the award in person during the World Conference on Climate Change,
the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties of the United
Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (COP6) on November
21, 2000 in the Hague, Netherlands.
